I love my S60 based Nokia devices, but I have to admit they are not perfect. There are a few things that could be fixed. I have noticed that as a consumer sometimes it’s as easy as just asking for what you want and manufacturers actually do listen. I’ve come up with a list of things that could be added or fixed in current S60-based Nokia’s.

-Add more RAM: Nokia seems to have learned their lesson by releasing the N76 and E90, both with tons of RAM, but I’m bringing this up just to make sure that even the low-end smartphones come equipped with plenty of RAM.
-FOTA: Updating via USB does the trick right? But with WIFI and other fast connections all over the place I think FOTA (Firmware- Over- The- Air) should be made standard on All Nokia Smartphones. Nice to see that the N73 and N73 ME have been added to the list: but what about the rest?
-Stereo Sound Recording: The N93 had great sound recording capabilities. While the N95 is more advanced, it still falls behind in the sound department by using the single mic that’s used for phone calls.
-Optical zooming: Optical is always better then digital zooming. While the optical zooming added a lot to the N93’s bulk, small and thin digital cameras with at least 3X optical prove that you can go small and thin without being too bulky.
-Built-in IM client with support for Google Talk, AIM, Yahoo, Skype and the rest: The built-in IM app is almost useless. While attempts to use it with various IM clients have been successful, it takes way too much work or is too difficult for the average user. It should support all IM clients, needing just the password and username. And while I’m on the subject of IM clients, I think it should support video calls.
-Windows Media Video Support
-Easier to use and more eye-candy: Symbian S60 is a powerful tool once you get to know it, but for beginners it can be a bit overwhelming at times. S60 needs some eye-candy and it should be more intuitive, can’t believe I’m saying this, but they could learn a thing or two about simplicity from the iPhone.
-High Res Screens: Bring back high resolutions screens like the one found on the N80.
-Dual keyboard design in a compact body: I remember seeing a Nokia patent regarding phone with a possible dual keyboard design: a normal keyboard on a compact phone, but with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. I know a lot of people who would buy such a phone in seconds!
-Use real world materials: The shiny finish on the N76 looks nice, until you touch it. Not to mention it’s really slippery. I actually liked the rubbery material used on the plum N95: it doesn’t show finger prints easily and adds some grip to the device. More phones should have this.
-Increase battery life: Something like a 1600 mAH battery on a N95 sounds nice.

What do you think should be fixed on S60 based Nokia smartphones?
