All is not well in Nokia land. It seems that two serious problems are affecting Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic which reportedly has sold more than 1 Million units. Now it seems that all 5800’s sold before February may have a defective speaker, which would basically mean all of them! Although not Nokia’s fault, but the supplier of these speaker, having sold so many of these, this issues could have come at worse time! Nokia is said to have replaced not only the speakers but also their supplier, which means that the new speakers are being used at the manufacturing plants, as well as in the service centers.
The second problem seems to be related to the newly released NAM version of 5800 XpressMusic which according to new users. The guy at Engadget who have gotten their hands on the new NAM flavor of the 5800 said that: “we can confirm that 3G appears to be a complete no-go — GSM works fine, but apart from a very brief 3.5G blip, we’re getting nothing in terms of UMTS or HSDPA.”
So far my 5800 is playing along as loud as ever, but if these reports are to be believed it won’t be playing for much longer. More info as it comes in, I do expect an official word from Nokia very soon.

nokia really sucks
first they price there products too high and then drop there prices at a fast pace and what do they offer for our hard earned money???
a inferior and defective product that has not been quality tested by them rather they make their customers test it!
these quality problems mainly occur on their top of the line flagship products for which they ask a hefty amount and the less said about their pathetic nokia care service centers, the better.
almost all their newly launched products have bugy firmware which they spend close toa year to rectify
the only reason they are the top cellphone makers is that they keep on releaseing one model(defective) after another keeping consumers exited and just living on their brand image (once nokia was renowned for the quality of their phones)and having the first movers advantage, here in India.
i have been a nokia user from my 2nd phone onwards and i have used 4 of their products 6270, 6230, n72 and n73 and my experince has gotten worse with every new nokia i have used and just when i was planning to buy another nokia the 5800xm(stupid me)this news comes, even the n85 has similar promlems
thanks nokia i am not going to another phone from you.
This article is referring to the earpiece speaker, rather then the stereo speakers per say… Just to clarify…
nokia suxx…
