The 5800 XpressMusic has been out for a while now and with all its success you’d expect it to get the full Nokia treatment, like Nokia Internet Radio or viNe. But one of the biggest omissions is N-Gage support. The N97, basically a souped-up version of 5800 has N-Gage support, so why not support it on the 5800? Even E75, a business device (!) has N-Gage while, the 5800 XM, device all about entertainment doesn’t? Doesn’t make sense to me. With so many 5800 XM units out there, not supporting means locking a big share of Nokia users. Would you like to see N-Gage support on the 5800 XpressMusic?

Hey Devin,
I’d like to see support for 5800 because that would mean they would have to optimise N-Gage for touch, which it currently isn’t.
At the moment, all games I’ve played (though only 7) none are touch based. Even bounce – which was touch on the 5800!
Maybe until they sort this out, they cannot support the 5800 as it lacks hardware keys.
Cheers.
Simple answer: Because there’s no 3d acceleration in the 5800XM
Mitch, the 5800XM is the same as the N97, no hardware 3D acceleration, so its definitly not that.
it’s true it has no hardware 3d acceleration, but the problem lies more with the ability to run these games in 3d at such a high res. Since the 5800 has such a large screen its processor has to cope with alot more to run at the screens full resolution. Although it seems unhopeful, my guess is that nokia will release ngage support for the 5800. However i would expect that they will reduce the screen resolution by using part of the screen for games controls. Much alike the 5800′s java console, this would allow for both controlling and a higher game refresh rate on the reduced screen.
Although it seems a shame
i think getting a 5800 unit is a regret!!! i only have two games, but on the box of the unit indicates the unit normally have three games, also i started downloading some applications at OVi, now its giving me a hard time accessing on theyre site, i want to download themes but i was not able, too many errors!!i want to download also the 450 free songs, also its giving me a hard time, its like i need to pay and limited numbers of artist!!!
I’ve been playing N-Gage games on my N73 a few months ago. The only problem I had was with the RAM. Plus, this phone doesn’t have that powervr something that most highend phones have.
my bet: N-Gage CAN be run on the 5800, but not officially supported. Anyone forgetting the wireless keyboard?
