another thing, some applications like Ovi store has problem with navigation. The links are single click and you cannot scroll on the list. Once you point your finger on the link, it opens... another stupid programming.

I upgrade my n97 to 2.0. One problem i encountered so far is when i tried to change the phone's language, the phone fails to startup. i had to re-try for more than 5 times. i thought my phone was bricked.

@ techinsane:

Unfortunately, that's what I'm told. Interestingly enough, I came across the following post on the Nokia Discussions forum in a thread regarding this same topic. However, this guy's post did a better job of articulating the issue than I did, but there's some obvious consistency here:

"Guys... I have some 'authentic' news. My source is within Nokia.

If you bought a mini or an 32g n97 today it would have V20 on it... The reason it's not been rolled out to existing customers yet is because there is a bug either in the previous fw or NSU that is causing phones with v10,11,12 to brick... Not all just some. Nokia are commiting vast resources to sorting the issue."

T-to-the-C on, I hope this is not true cause if it is then things are worse than I originally thought. My Ovi suite, installed on my PC, crashes all the time. Could it just be that Nokia, is lost when it comes to software?

2nd Paragraph:
"The last scenario is unlikely as it would indicate problems with the firmware that need to be ironed out. The reason why this is unlikely is because the N97 mini has just been released sporting the same firmware v20. A delay for the n97’s firmware v20, would mean delays for the N97 mini’s launch."

Why is that unlikely...it's what they did for n97! Several updates later they're still trying to iron out problems...sure the software team are the same as Microsofts ;-)

I think it either has to be today or tomorrow as usually firmware updates are not to be released end of the week. The reason is that there will be no-one at the office at Nokia to monitor the roll out of the new FW.
So if we get it today today, we're lucky. If not there's a 95% chance that it will not be last week.
At our company at least we never launch new products on a Friday because of this possible risk so I think Nokia wouldn't either.

My relative works at Nokia (in the U.S.). I'm told Nokia is having issues with getting the 2.0 software update to work on the N97. If you were to buy an N97 or N97 Mini today, it would already be loaded with 2.0 software and work fine. The issue is with updating from a previous firmware version.

They're currently trying to work out the issue, but it has nothing to do with marketing, hyping the N97 Mini or any other reason. Just that the update is not installing properly for some reason.

Unfortunately, no word on a release date because they haven't yet isolated the issue causing the software update problem.
