One of the cool new features of the N900 is the new notification light. Previous devices had this feature, but it had just two functions: notify you of new message, emails or missed calls or just slowly pulsate on and off to indicate that the device is still on when it entered a power-saving mode.

The N900’s new notification is much brighter than the one found on the N97 and a lot more useful. The N97’s notification was barely visible and was only able to show one color. The N900’s light takes things to another level by being able to show 4 different light colors. Because it’s bright I don’t have to walk up to the phone to notice that I have a missed call, the light is pretty visible from a distance.

When in stand-by mode it slowly flashes a White light. A Blue light means that you received a text message, email, missed call or instant message. When the battery is charging the light turns Orange and when full it turns Green.

Do you like the N900’s new notification light or do you prefer the N97’s approach?
