Powermat is a wireless charging system for mobile device. Up until now they only supported a handful of models, with no love for Nokia. These devices used either a bulky case or dock to wirelessly charge, while Nokia handsets could be charged with a universal receiver.
Things are about to change as they unveiled their Powerpack batteries. Powermat has confirmed that that a few Nokia models will be supported and we’ve received confirmation that one of the supported models is the N97.
The idea is that you’ll be able to buy a a charging mat, swap out the included Nokia battery with the Powerpack battery and just drop your Nokia on the mat for wireless charging.
They will also be offering two mobile mats that have built-in batteries that offer true wireless charging. Imagine placing your N900 on a mat without a single cord attached to the N900 or mat.
I’m hoping that they haven’t forgotten about other popular Nokia models like the 5800, E72, E71 and N900 and release batteries for those models too.
