The ultimate case, would be light but also have pockets/slots for multiple microSD cards. Additionally, one would be able to augment the battery power on the device, inductive charging, and perhaps have solar panels. I know, completely unrealistic.
My ultimate case would be thin slick made from leather and very light weight so it won’t bulking up the already bulked up N900. It also should be able to make use of the keyboard while opened and the top area that cover the screen is made of scratch resistant thin plastic material. This cover just like the CP-408 case but a see through clear plastic which allowed user sees the screen while closed the case, handy for watching movie while left the device on the table. Also it should come with a back stand on the other side to pair with the stock one. This will create stability when the keyboard slide out. Both stands (the camera stand + the case stand) can be opened at the same time.
The case should have a cut around the camera area, the case should balance out the back side. Buttons and plugs are still usable while the case is on, create an amazing user experience while not sacrificing anything. Most importantly it should be carry like a bag with a hook-on landyard (long enough and adjustable). This can be wore on the neck like a nicklace or conference badge. Poeple usually dropped their N900 but with this the N900 will always be safe.
To add to the top comment:
the landyard idea is suitable for people who want to carry the device if they earing small pocket jeans or skirt(women). This will make the N900 feel like a mini Netbook laptop
I can sketch the design if needed.
The Ultimate Case i think would be a case you wouldn’t ever want to get rid off.
It should be applied the whole time, like on the Samsung aramani phone, but also never make the Phone/Tablet bulky. It should be a part of the device.
obviously thin and smooth. ( Preverable Leather )
maxbe even an external Display for not needing to open the case itself
Inductive function of a second battery.
well, that’s it.
Ultimate case =
Love to touch and feel + Perfect design + COUSY AND CONFY for the N900 + Antiscratchscreen + heavenly beautiful
here my equation in order to obtain a perfect case.
Thank you
Here my proposal:
An optimal case should be made of thin material as the N900 is thick enough itself, preferably leather, maybe silicon or neoprene or similar.
It shouldn’t be necessary to remove the N900 from the case to make calls and if you want to use it in a car mount. Maybe a compatible car mount should be offered. And during phone calls the case shouldn’t bother the user.
Furthermore, as the N900 isn’t slim enough to be carried in every trouser pocket, there should be an (optional) belt clip or something similar, maybe using the same (thin) connector as a car mount.
All connectors and buttons as well as the camera should be accessible in the case.
The screen of the N900 could be cleaned automatically inside the case.
And maybe the case itself should also be washable and have a lifetime guaranty from the vendor. I’m just dreaming…
Another idea is to have an included full size flat speaker, flat as these well known round piezo elements in calculators etc. but much bigger!? In an opened case that could be stereo.
Finally, the CP-408 is already quite a good approach. I’d really like to have one…
By the way: Has anyone ever tried to produce a mobile case (partly) made of microfiber material? That could be really slim and… washable!
For me the ultimate case should have an inflatable keyboard included. And it should be a fold-out stand for the N900. Together with the phone this would be an absolutely great mobile pc and better than every netbook.
Thin light metallic case, availing for easy access of camera and screen view without the case being removed…
the case would be difficult to get rid of by owner if it came with extra battery power to give more power and mobility to n900
Also charging usb and other connectivity options should be available without removing the case ..
Alsothe case should be stylish and may have some cooling solutions to keep mobile from heating up..
in short i want a light metallic case which will stay as long as an n900 stays with me !
a good case should have a belt clip. a strong sturdy one. one that will last more than a few months. it should also have belt straps like on your pants for added security. it should have a snap button to close it. none of this flimsy magnetic stuff that seems so popular these days. if you have to walk fast. or break out in a light jogg or even a full sprint you will regret that flimsy unsecure magnetic connection as soon as your phone goes flying out of your pocket and into a puddle on the street. a good case should be functional and look nice. but functional more so than looks. when i say functional i dont mean the ability to access all the phones features with out taking it out of the case i mean the ability to maybe strap it to your arm when you go jogging or or at least be able to access the 3.5 mm jack for when you are running. thats all. i dont want a case that i can use with my phone still in it because i would like to see my phone. i bought it because it was stylish and looks great so why do i want to cover up a 700 dollar pohone with a 30 dollar carrying case? i like the way my phone feels in my hand and looks when its in use. i dont want some ugly case distracting from it and they are all ugly when compared to the stylish fashions of most cell phones now a days. so just a phone that allows you to listen to your head phones while walking, jogging, running, fits securely with a secure locking mechanism not that magnetic stuff. and doesnt look too lugly
To me, the best case would be the one that:
1) Have the option to use or not the belt clip, but when not used, the point to fix the clip, don´t appear.
2) To be like a wallet. If you may put credit cards, you may use money and other things on it.
3) Protect all phone when closed, and stay hidden when open. This could be achieved using the same structure of doors. Remember Palm M100? Of course not plastic but metal.
4) Don´t use that fake leather that stay searching for dust everywhere, always. Something that don´t paste dust would be good, but at the same time, it cannot let the phone and the case to be scratched
5) Space for all sorts of holes and connectors that the phone has.
6) Let the N900 extends the keyboard without remove the case.
7) If closed, let we check when email/messages are received (a hole to see the led) and have the option to change the front cover by one that had one side mirrored, and other not, to choose if you wish to see or let the other people just look without see nothing
That´s It!
Cases are meant to protect, yet not hinder the normal activities you would do with a phone.
Due to this, I’d like a case that acts as a ’2nd layer’ that just fits onto the outer rim of the phone, with a layer at the back and a whole for the camera. In the case of touchscreen phones with no moving parts. That way, nothing needs to be moved to use the camera, calls can be taken easily.
But, for the N900 this would require something a little more elaborate. An outer rim for the screen part only on top, and a separate one for the back and bottom keyboard. When the keyboards closed they clasp together, but when its open, they separate, so staying protected.
This again allows the camera, keybaord, and calls to be taken. Ideally it should be a hard plastic, which is easy to grip, e.g. like the N95 back cover texture.
Thats my ideal case ! (especially if it does not add much bulk)
to me ultimate meant so many thing, but one last thing that would like to add is, flexible experiences of using the case for the device (not one fit all, but one do all). I am sure you know what kind of materials should be made for this case.
awsome and protected carrying case for nokia n900. like the way my phone feels in my hand and looks when its in use the best thing is to easy access of camera and screen view without the case being removed.
i want Nokia CP-408 and i cant found here in pak (karachi).
