We are teaming up with our friends at Dataviz to bring you another contest, this time for a chance to win a license for the new Documents To Go Premium Edition, the editing version of the popular Documents To Go office application. Well i like the fact that i can fully open my office documents and attachments and do follow ups on the work i get instead of running to a computer to open the files. This is a very powerful device and a great application to make it even better ^ more powerful. I do alot of my work using excel. keep up the good work guys..
I have already purchased DTG Premium.
The word editor has some basic features missing that I would like added in future versions:
1. Ability to create bullet points or numbers.
2. The ability to edit line spacing.
3. Word Count
4. Spelling, Dictionary and maybe Thesaurus.
5. Ability to create borders.
6. Ability to insert pictures.
7. The ability to insert tables.
This might not be possible but the ability to print or connect to a print server would be nice.
will be nice to edit powerpoint and also have a PDF reader because now most of my new .pdf files I get the native client would not open it, also will be nice if the pdf support is added that pdf can export the pdf files to word file like in a regular desktop client. And the very most wanted feature would be while saving word or excel file have an option to save a pdf.
Currently using the Free version, it has now become an indispensable application in my day-to-day activities.
I like that I am able to open document files others send me over email, for this allows me to do work on the go instantly, without having to use a laptop or seeking a terminal.
It allows me to see the plan for the day using Excel, amongst other uses, and enhances the PIM ability of Nokia N900.
No matter whether I win or not, it has been a fantastically coded and executed application. Within the current functionalities I can use with the Free version, I don’t find any features lacking, or missing. Good work, guys!
I liked the facility DocToGo offers to edit word and excel documents on my N900 smartphone. I usually use have my documents on my phone and update it live on phone while we discuss in the meeting. and even email the document before meeting ends
few features i wosh to see in N900 version:
1. data filter support in excel
2. picture view in excel
3. dictionary support
4. table support in word
5. print page setup (height/width ratio)
Without trying to seem like I’m over exaggerating, because I’m not, the software helped me during a vital time in my University course, and saved me from having to make a relatively expensive payment.
Here’s my story that I was going to share, but never so I might aswell post it here as it’s relevant.
Not so long ago I set out from home to head off to Uni; I was around an hour into my train journey when I thought I’d use the remaining two hours to look over my draft of my research paper and notes for my final exam; I got my netbook out and straight away it prompted me to give it a charge, low and behold my charger was miles away sitting at home.
I thought I was screwed, and would have to fork out on the expense to go all the way back to pick it up, or buy another one, neither seemed to go down well with me.
With the last 10 minutes of dying breathe of my netbook, I SSH’d all my Uni work to my phone and dauntingly left all my trust in the hope that a piece of kit like Documents To Go existed, well, I was not let down.
Five minutes later, I was happily sipping away at my coffee, with huge smile on my face going over all my exam notes and research paper; fantastic.
My Uni provides all it notes it’s in document format and as PowerPoint slides so viewing them was no trouble at all; it was too easy.
Back at my student accommodation I connected my phone upto my TV and was oblivious to the fact that I wasn’t on my netbook, four days passed and I never felt the need to walk the 5 minute journey to the Uni where the are an infinite amount of computers available.
Although I wasn’t able to edit my research paper, viewing it allowed me to put pen-to-paper (for once) and eventually type it up when I was sitting at a desktop.
(AbiWord is good, but it messed up my formatting to much to the point I couldn’t read the document, and OpenOffice it too slow on the phone.)
Honestly, thanks to this software I walked out of the exam room with a huge weight off my shoulders.
To say this software helped me pass my final exam may sound like an exaggeration, but I do believe it did.
First of thank you for docs2go. Before, after having seen I had a document in my email on my Nokia n900, I would have to go online to uses google docs to view it. Now I can review a work order on the fly, make a quick edit and send it back in no time at all.
Things I would like to see would be a spell/gramer check, some sort of better scaling/aliasing for when I connect to a tv. And what would be real cool would be the ability to open a doc, then insert a capture from the camera!
Thanks agian for the hard work.
Whats best:
Front up the compatibility with microsofts office package and the fact that you can open these documents straight by clicking them for instance in email attachments.
What i want in the future:
One of the most critical things with a tablet like n900 is the possibility to synchronize it with other computers/ online calendars / cloud services etc.
So with DTG (as with all applications for smart mobiles) they should have inbuilt ways, in the best of worlds several different ways, to sync documents to folders calendars email apps etc. You should have the possibility to select between different ways like ssh, remotedesktop, bluetooth, wifi or you name it. This would be the ultimate solution since you could then work everywhere seamless with your documents.
I’ve been putting off starting my 30-day trial, worried that I’d waste it by not have a need to really test it out in the time allowed, so I’ve been saving it just in case.
If instead it had a 20-run trial without a time limit (or a longer time limit), this would make me more likely to install it and try it out. At the moment I don’t know what I’m missing!
I forgot to add: I have yet to lose any formatting within any of my documents, something no other product has been able to match..Oooh sexy!
The best Aspect of Documents to Go Premium is that I can edit my Work while I am traveling and its very fast and efficient.
I can easy change my Word or Excel documents fast if it is required and I dont need my Laptop for that.
It would be good if in the near future it would be possible to have table support in Word and a picture support in Excel, because I often use pictures in Exel.
I was using open office on the n900 and decided to try documents to go trial. I must say that it looks very sleek and does the job very well but does not seem to offer the right package for my needs. I was having problems opening my .doc files from pages and office 2008 os x but when i did was having viewing problems as i have numerous tables, pictures and charts. I can see the benefit of this program for convenience as i need something at hand when a new idea pops up for my business… i can just pull out my n900 and away we go
I d like to see,
Additional themes for powerpoint at a price cause nothing comes for free
Extra fonts, tables, resize, spacing/alignment to name a few
I am happy using the trial but just wish these added features as well as the ones mentioned above will give me the power on my n900 rather than dragging my laptop around all the time
Kind regards
So who won this competition?
